Determination of genetic variations by using mitochondrial DNA cyt b sequences in populations of Carasobarbus luteus (Cyprinidae)

As the human population increases, freshwater fish has become an important alternative source of protein to meet need protein. Especially numerous species from family Cyprinidae are consumed by people. Among these fish, Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843) is also one most preferred thanks its edible flesh as well low price. Since it economically important, there been pressure overfishing and invasive on populations this species, resulting in decrease sources day day. Management conservation have importance therefore know genetic variations first place. The present study analyzed sequences mtDNA cyt b locus established variability following collection 65 individuals five different localities diverse river systems where C. naturally inhabit. Sequence analysis revealed 13 polymorphic sites 5 haplotypes. Birecik was locality with highest value terms both haplotype diversity nucleotide diversity, Diyarbakır lowest value. Tajima’s D Fu’s Fs values were found be statistically insignificant for all localities. Population marker. It recommended take measures stop loss start studies.
